October 21, 2013 - The Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa’s McCann Clubhouse, with the support of the Rogers Youth Fund, has received a brand new, state-of-the-art Rogers Raising the Grade (RRTG) Technology Centre. The new Rogers Raising the Grade technology centre will help our youth who are at the highest risk of falling behind in school.

Rogers Raising the Grade is a national program delivered by the Boys and Girls Club of Canada, designed to provide young people with the skills, tools, and opportunities that will equip them to excel academically and secure their future success as productive, independent and contributing members of society.

Rogers Raising the Grade is an interactive after-school program that allows youth to explore interests, receive homework support, connect with mentors/tutors, interact with peers, increase their digital literacy, and plan for post secondary education.

This year, two Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa locations are participating in this innovative program. Building on the success it had last year, the Police Youth Centre location is again participating while the McCann location is joining for its first year.

We are inviting all members of the community and local media to come to tomorrow’s grand opening of the Rogers Raising the Grade Technology Centre at the McCann Clubhouse. Attendees will be introduced to the program by hearing about the experiences of students already in the program and see a demonstration of how technology helps in the education process. Carter Brown, morning host at 105.3 KISS FM will be speaking on behalf of Rogers. Refreshments will be served.

WHEN: Tuesday, October 22 from 4:30 to 6:00pm

WHERE: Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa – McCann Clubhouse, 430 McArthur Ave., Ottawa
