Help the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa make Christmas merry for more than 2,000 children this year

The Club’s Angel Tree initiative lets Ottawa residents and Club Members share the joy of the holidays, regardless of socio-economic status

November 25, 2013 – Ottawa, ON Christmas is coming, but for many of Ottawa’s children, there’s no reason to celebrate.
That’s why the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa (BGCO) has launched its Angel Tree initiative to bring holiday cheer – and presents – to those children who might not otherwise receive any.

“The holidays shouldn’t be about whose family can afford to buy presents,” says Colleen Mooney, Executive Director of the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa. “Every child in this city, regardless of circumstance, deserves to be spoiled a bit at Christmas.”

The BGCO is collecting gifts ranging in price from $20 to $45 to distribute to its youth Members at their Club holiday parties. For those who wish to help but don’t have time to go shopping, the Club is gratefully accepting gift cards or cash donations so that its elves can purchase presents for its Members.

“We know that at this time of year, the budget gets stretched for many local families,” adds Mooney. “But for just $20, you can make a huge impact in one child’s life.”

Unwrapped gifts can be dropped off at any Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa location. To arrange gift pickups, please contact Stacie at sstephenson@bgcottawa.org or 613-232-0925 Ext. 222.
