BGC Ottawa set to host sold-out Starry Night Glamping Gala

Published August 30, 2023 12:00

As part of its 100-year celebrations, BGC Ottawa, previously known as the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa, is set to host its Starry Night Glamping Gala on Thursday, Aug. 31, at 6 p.m. The sold-out event will take place on the “Great Lawn” of the Tomlinson Family Foundation Clubhouse (1463 Prince of Wales Drive), adjacent to the Rideau Canoe Club.

The BGC Ottawa Gala will not be the typical gala experience that many guests are accustomed to, as there will be no long speeches or sit-down dinner. Instead, guests will be whisked into a magical night under the stars surrounded by a glamourous social atmosphere, delicious dishes from several of Ottawa’s top restaurants, delightful cocktails and exciting entertainment.

“After having such a blast last summer, we can’t wait to welcome guests to the BGC Ottawa Starry Night Glamping Gala,” said Michelle Taggart, BGC Ottawa Board Member and Event Co-Chair. “We promised sponsors, guests and BGC Ottawa supporters a fun-filled night under the stars with several surprise experiences, and I believe that our amazing committee has delivered on that promise. From impeccable food and beverage offerings, to an enclosed photobooth, live sketch artist, tarot card reader and more. Not to mention a fantastic DJ and a surprise musical guest. It’s going to be a night to remember in support of thousands of children and youth across Ottawa.”

The Gala is one of two marquee fundraising events that BGC Ottawa hosts each year. Funds raised at the Starry Night Glamping Gala will provide programming directly to children and youth in vulnerable neighbourhoods throughout the city. The Club provides safe, supportive places where all kids and teens, of all backgrounds can experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, and develop confidence and skills for life.

“The need for free community-based services and life-changing programs has grown significantly in the 19 neighbourhoods that BGC Ottawa serves,” said BGC Ottawa Chief Advancement Officer Jonelle Istead. “Now, more than ever, we are counting on our generous sponsors and donors to help make a difference in the lives of children and youth in Ottawa. The Starry Night Glamping Gala is an opportunity for our partners, and other like-minded people and organizations, to support the Club and its Members, while enjoying a magical night under the stars.”

The Starry Night Glamping Gala is now sold out, however, business and philanthropic leaders, Club alumni, friends and those looking to make an impact on countless children and youth throughout Ottawa can still provide a charitable gift by visiting www.bgcottawa.org/donate.

BGC Ottawa aims to raise $500,000 to provide life-changing programs and barrier-free opportunities to thousands of children and youth at the Gala.

BGC Ottawa extends its utmost gratitude to its BGC Ottawa Starry Night Glamping Gala sponsors:
