For the third annual YOUth in Office, 100 youth from Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada will be matched with a Member of Parliament and his or her staff to experience a day in the world of Parliament—from Assistants to Members and Party Leaders, from Communications Directors to Policy Advisors and Ministers. This annual event is a joint initiative by BGCC and Big Brothers Big Sisters Canada that gives youth (between the ages of 14 - 24) a chance to learn about working in a political environment and to see democracy in action!
What happens at YOUth in Office?
• Youth attend a training session in Ottawa on May 30
• Youth spend the day with an MP and his or her staff on May 31
• Youth have lunch with young MPs to hear about their experience and share their own thoughts on what the government should prioritise.
• They wrap up by attending Question Period in the House of Commons
