"The Boys and Girls Club's Homework Club provides a safe and supportive space for youth to do their homework, be active, and to create solid friendships. The benefits of this type of program particularly in at-risk neighbourhoods have long-lasting effects,” says Tracey Clark, Managing Director, Bridgehead.

“This season we’ve created an EK#65 blend that offers sweet stone fruit and caramel flavours balanced with an intense peppery and bittersweet dark roast character. This medium dark blend will appeal to many Erik Karlsson fans,” notes Ian Clark, Director of Coffee, Bridgehead.

“I want to thank Bridgehead for agreeing again this year to participate in this fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa,” says Erik Karlsson. I really enjoyed the experience of working with the best coffee company in Ottawa in developing my blend of coffee, the EK #65, and am happy they will make it again this year. I hope everyone will enjoy this year’s EK #65 as much I do. Let me know how you like it by tweeting me your reviews (@erikkarlsson65) with the hashtag #ek65bridgehead. ”

“We’re so grateful for the support from Bridgehead and Erik,” says Colleen Mooney, Executive Director, BGCO. “Our Homework Club gets youth involved and engaged during those critical after-school hours. Here, they do their assignments, study for tests or get one-on-one homework help. They’re able to fuel their bodies and their brains by eating a healthy snack that is prepared in the Clubhouse.”

“We’ve seen the demand for Homework Club grow an incredible amount in a short time, so we’ve expanded as well,” Mooney added.

“Membership in Homework Club has jumped 85 percent in the last five years and the number of overall visits has increased by more than 114 percent. And the youth love it; 83 percent of Homework Club Members surveyed said that by attending Homework Club, they feel more confident in their schoolwork. That’s what we want to see.”
