We do not permit male staff or participants in the pool area during these designated swim times. We have curtains on the inside windows and doors that block any views into the pool from our BGCO building. The outside windows are specially frosted to allow light in while preventing anyone from looking into the pool area.
During Women and Girls Only Swim times we offer Swim Kids classes for girls ages 6-12, as well as two Teen/Adult swim levels (Basics 1 and Basics 2) for teen girls and women.
Red Cross Swim Basics is a two-level learn-to-swim program for adults and teens. These courses are designed to develop or increase swimmers’ comfort in the water through basic flotation, movement, and breathing skills and to foster the basic knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to stay safe in, on, and around the water.
Basics 1 offers an introduction to swimming with a focus on front swim.
Basics 2 focuses on developing front and back crawl, establishing comfort in deep water, and increasing the swimming distance.
Swim Strokes is a stand-alone stroke development program for adults and teens, and for participants in Red Cross Swim Kids who require additional work on their strokes to complete the program. The Swim Strokes program is designed to further develop strokes chosen by the swimmer in consultation with the Water Safety Instructor, and increase swimming distances and proficiency.
The optional Lifesaving Skills component provides a fun and challenging progression of skills that builds water rescue education.
