About Our Program

We offer structured swimming lessons to our members and the public. Our program follows the Red Cross Swim program format.

About our levels:

Preschool – Parent Assisted (4 months-3 years): Starfish, Duck, and Sea Turtle

Babies and toddlers work on getting wet, buoyancy and movement, kicking, and pool entries and exits.

Preschool – Child Only (3-5 years): Sea Otter, Salamander, Sunfish, Crocodile, and Whale

Children work on floating and gliding, kicking, swimming in deep water, pool entries and exits, and swimming short distances. They work on progressing from assisted to unassisted performance in the water.

Children (6-12 years): Swim Kids 1-10

Through drills and activities, swimmers learn to master the separate components of swim strokes while building their endurance and comfort level in the water. The Swim Kids levels touch on lifesaving and safety skills to prepare swimmers for open water activities, as well as basic first aid skills.

Youth (13-18 years): Teen Basics 1 and 2

Teen Basics 1 is intended for youth who have little or no previous swimming experience. Swimmers will learn to float, move through the water, support themselves at the surface, and how to safely enter and exit the pool.

Teen Basics 2 is for youth who have some swimming experience or who have completed Teen Basics 1. Swimmers will learn to swim distances of 25 metres and up, as well as basic stroke skills and a variety of safe water entries.

Adult (18+ years), including Women-Only classes: Adult Basics 1 and 2

Adult Basics 1 is intended for adults who have little or no previous swimming experience. Swimmers will learn to float, move through the water, support themselves at the surface, and how to safely enter and exit the pool.
